Scholes, 29, said: "We expect to beat teams every week and in certain games win 6-0. But this year we haven’t really put up a good performance for the whole 90 minutes. Last year we did really well against the top teams and, while we have done OK this season, it has been the teams we expect to beat where we have let ourselves down."
"We said earlier in the season we weren’t playing very well but, hopefully, by February and March we would start to go on a good run. But for some reason it never materialised."
