SCHOLES, POST MATCH

Scholes praised Giggs for the lay off that lead to the first goal on Saturday:

"It was a great touch from Ryan Giggs," he told MUTV. "I didn’t even have to break my stride - it was straight in my path and easy for me to strike."

"There was a little bit of a concern that we hadn’t got a shot on target in the first half," Scholes admitted. "But, we always felt that, as long as we persevered in the second half, we could open up their defence. We created a lot of chances in the second half and thankfully got the win."

"It makes a difference when you get that first one," he said. "It really helps your confidence. I think a lot of people have a spell where they can’t get the goals and feel like they can’t do anything right. As soon as you get one, they seem to come in bundles. I’m hoping I can get a few more."

"It’s important to have some momentum to your play. We’ve not put ourselves in a great position in the league, but we know that we need to win our games now. We’ve got to follow this result up against Southampton. There are a lot of difficult matches coming up, but we know that we’re capable of winning every game. For a chance of winning the league we have to more or less do that if we are to stand any chance of winning the League.
