Carlos Queiroz could use his contacts with one of his former clubs to set up a player exchange deal with Sporting Lisbon. He is reported as saying:

"The availability and good will for an agreement exists. I think that now, in a short space of time, there will be official proposals between the two clubs so we can put an agreement together."

Such an agreement could see United youth and reserve players going to Lisbon as with the Royal Antwerp deal.
