Liverpool's record goalscorer Ian Rush is to join Gerard Houllier's coaching staff on a part-time basis.

Former Wales striker Rush, who scored 346 goals for the Merseysiders will provide specific coaching for forwards once or twice a week at the club's Melwood training base.

He left the club in 1996 to play out his career with Leeds, Newcastle and Wrexham.
