There is no evidence that Ferguson will carry on but should he do so then Peter Fitton can always say ‘I told you first’.

Peter Fitton in The Mail on Sunday:

‘Sir Alex Ferguson intends to stay in charge at Manchester United until he is nearly 70, despite Malcolm Glazer's unpopular takeover of his empire.

At the beginning of this season, when Ferguson, 63, agreed a yearly, rolling contract and many suspected it might be the Scot's farewell campaign. However, close associates, along with his colleagues at the club's Carrington training complex, have been made aware in recent weeks that Ferguson intends staying in management at United for 'another three or four years at least'.’
