Shareholders United spokesman Sean Bones:
"Paying excessive sums to agents is not a problem specific to Manchester United. It is an inherent issue in the game as a whole and it's time FIFA, the FA and the Premier League did something about it.
"Football is not regulated properly. There are too many loopholes and the people running the game should do their duty and close them. I have heard the FA say they will look into the situation. They have had a long time to do that.
"There are currently around 250 agents operating in England, twice as many as in any other country. That has only happened because the regulations governing them have not been strict enough and agents have been allowed to flourish.
"You can't put the blame for that on the shoulders of Sir Alex Ferguson and his son. It's time the FA took some decisive action and introduced proper laws to prevent agents taking such vast amounts out of the game.
"The amounts of money United have paid to agents in recent years is large but we live in a competitive world and if other clubs are paying that amount ours has to as well.
"I don't think people should be too critical. It's less than 12 months ago Ronaldinho wouldn't sign for us because we wouldn't pay his agent the extra money he wanted."
So in other words because everybody else is at it, it doesn’t matter that Fergie may have been? And surely Ronaldinho didn’t sign because Kenyon made a hash of it, not because of agent fees.
