``I am pretty sure if we had played in an empty stadium, we would not have won the game.'' said Schmeichel.

``One of the things that really helps is when you walk through the tunnel and hear and feel the atmosphere.

``The supporters are great, absolutely fantastic. We can play poor games and they are still behind us, still believing they can help us turn it around. They helped us so much.''

``It is going to hurt them but at least they don't have to wait too long for the next game,'' Schmeichel added.

``There is still plenty of quality in that team and yesterday they were without David Beckham, Roy Keane and Nicky Butt. You know it isn't going to take much for them to create a chance to score but I just feel that we had a bit of luck."

``It was the last derby at Maine Road, so we might have had that little bit of extra determination. It's almost like the script might have been written already.''
