SHORT SHARP SHOCK

"That was the shock treatment. The problem was the shock of it. I didn't expect that on Saturday, I thought we were a certainty, I really did. I thought we would win that match.

"We went through a period last season making these ridiculous one-off type bloopers, but to do three in the one game - and in a derby game - was certainly a shock to us and we didn't expect it.

"We had the best defensive record in the league going into the game and the one thing I thought was definitely guaranteed was we would come out of the game with the best defensive record.

"I thought we could handle anything they had, but if you make mistakes like that you're nothing. You have no excuses, absolutely no excuses whatsoever.

"There was only Mick Phelan and me in that dressing room who knew what it was like, so if we have to wait another 13 years for the next defeat I think we can handle that.

"It wasn't a nice dressing room, but I think in important games you can get upset. If you look at the way the game went, we had 70 per cent of the possession, and you don't get that against schoolboy teams.

"That part was good if we hadn't waited until the last 20 minutes before we created a lot of chances. It was too late by then."
