Van Nistelrooy, Giggs, Ferdinand and Beckham have all been nominated for this year’s Ballon d’Or award. Reports suggest that Roberto Carlos from Real Madrid is favourite to win it. Lets hope somebody more deserving wins it this year after Michael Owen somehow won it last year.
Record-breaking Sagitta 2,000 Guineas winner Rock of Gibraltar is one of four horses shortlisted for a prestigious Horse of the Year award.
The award is offered each year by the Racing Post in conjunction with the Racehorse Owners' Association where members of the public are invited to vote by various means for one of four nominated horses. The result will then be announced at the Racehorse Owners' Association awards night on 12 December.
Rock Of Gibraltar - jointly owned by Sir Alex Ferguson - had a phenomenal season which all began with a thrilling victory over his stablemate Hawk Wing in the Sagitta 2,000 Guineas on 4 May.
