Sir Alex Ferguson to End Reign at United

The only difference is that this is the year that a certain manager that everyone believes should take over, just happens to be hanging it up at Real Madrid. Stories have been rampant over the last few months that Jose Mourinho is heading back to Chelsea. That Roman Abramovich will give Mourinho a blank check to rebuild Chelsea the way he wants to, with little interference from the man who is notoriously famous for firing managers.

If this latest rumor is true, then there is only one Manager out there that has the ability to even come close to following a legend like Ferguson. It will be no easy task for anyone to live up to such an iconic personality and competitor. There is also speculation that the job could go to David Moyes, but again as with all of this, it is all rumor and speculation. Moyes has done wonders with his limited budget at Everton and maybe with his even keel temperament; he may be a good fit.

So, Ferguson retires; what happens to all the talk about Cristiano Ronaldo coming back. What happens to players like Ryan Giggs, who himself is a United legend. Does a new manger, first move him to the bench and then the retirement home? Does Wayne Rooney move to greener pastures with PSG or Bayern Munich? Does Rio Ferdinand get replaced with someone younger and a step quicker?

As a Manchester United Supporter, I hope this is just another made up rumor as in years past. Sir Alex Ferguson is Manchester United. There is no other and there is no replacement. Legends are not replaced, they are followed. The next Manager will have to carry on the best he can with the knowledge that he will be compared and judged on every decision that he makes by both the supporters and the media forever more. For me; Say it isn?t so!
