'Three men and a teenager have been charged in relation to a mass brawl that left a football fan in a coma.

Jamie Turner, 45, from Shropshire, was left unconscious after the fight before a football game in Southampton in May.

Lee Middleton, 32, of Fraser Close, Lordshill, Southampton, is charged with one count of violent disorder.

John Francis Donovan, 38, of Cuckmere Lane, Millbrook, Richard Bridle, 18, of Brookwood Road, and a 17-year-old Southampton youth face two counts.

The four will all appear before Southampton Magistrates' Court on 14 December.

The investigation into the attack on Mr Turner, who was assaulted during the fight on 15 May which involved 20 people in the Golden Grove area of the
city, continues.

It took place ahead of the game that saw Southampton relegated from the Premiership.

Mr Turner, from Telford, underwent emergency surgery for serious head injuries.

He was left in a coma for several weeks, but police say he is now making "steady progress" at home.'
