SPANISH PRESS FEAR ‘HOOLIGANS'

Last updated : 03 April 2003 By Editor
Spanish newspaper AS reports that 4,000 "hooligans" will
take over Madrid next Tuesday.

They also report that 3 years ago, United fans drank the
bars around the Plaza Mayor dry. Apparently 10 UK police and
20 undercover agents will travel with United's support which
will be escorted to Paseo Rosales by local police to avoid
confrontations with the Ultra Sur - Madrid's radical group
of fans.

However an Ultras spokesman is quoted as saying they are not
looking for any further trouble after they put themselves in
danger of bans following incidents after Milan match. Seven
riot vans will be parked in the Concha Espina/ Marcelino
Santamaria area where up to 3000 Ultras usually congregate.

An Ultras spokesman? Whatever next?
