‘Two Middle Eastern airlines are in talks to replace Vodafone as the main sponsor to Manchester United’ reports the Sunday Telegraph.

‘The Sunday Telegraph has learned that Qatar Airways and Etihad Airways, based in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates respectively, are competing to clinch a deal worth in excess of £10m per year to the club.

The contract would include shirt sponsorship and could involve "presenting rights" on the club's Old Trafford Stadium. Although the name of the famous ground would not be changed, it could become "Old Trafford sponsored by Etihad Airways".

Sir Alex Ferguson, the manager of Man Utd, last week denied that the Glazer family, the owners of the club, would consider consigning the Old Trafford name to the history books.’

Not another thing that the benighted one could have got wrong is it?
