Kenny Cooper celebrated his addition to United's first-team squad list by scoring for the reserves on Thursday night.

The American striker's goal in the 32nd minute was the first of United's campaign in the Barclays Premiership Reserve League North.

Ricky Sbragia's side had to wait until injury time to score their second of the night and the season. David Jones, the club's young player of the year, was on target.

Meanwhile Roy Carroll, the only senior player on duty for United, kept a clean
sheet as the Reds overcame Nottingham Forest 2-0.
