STRONGER

"We are stronger than last year simply because we have brought in some young players who will develop well.

"Kleberson will take time, he’s learning the language, and we will give Cristiano Ronaldo time simply because he’s so young.

"But Eric Djemba-Djemba has settled in very well - he speaks English very fluently now, he has worked very hard on it and that's not a problem for him.

"As for the goalkeeper Tim Howard, he has been outstanding, an absolute revelation.

"I am happy with the balance and though we may have a weakness in the defence we have players who can adapt and apply themselves in defensive roles.'

On Chelsea SAF says that they have bought too much:

"They have a lot of quality and a big squad - it must be around 27 players which is far above all the rest of us - and it's important if you get injuries.

`But sometimes when you have all those players, and half a dozen are not getting a game every week and are not involved, when it comes to the point when you need them maybe they will have missed out not playing regular football.

`It's going to take a great deal of management to keep everyone happy in that situation.

`At the moment it's exciting for everyone down there but as the season goes on I wonder how it's going to work out.'
