SUCH WONDERFUL PEOPLE

More from Saturday.

So far we have pictures of a bottle being thrown at Ronaldo, pictures of Evertonians giving the V’s to our players, and a bloke trying to get on the pitch to get at Ronaldo.

But our players are being grassed up for alleged colourful language.

Everton officials will study CCTV footage before deciding whether to make a formal complaint to the Football Association over the behaviour of some Manchester United players during Saturday's Premiership spectacular at Goodison Park.

The Toffees have received in excess of 40 statements from individual fans alleging members of the United squad used foul language and abusive gestures towards sections of the crowd following Ruud van Nistelrooy's late winner.

``The most surprising thing is that complaints have been received from a number of sections of the ground,'' said Everton spokesman Ian Ross.
And an FA spokesman said: 'Nothing has as yet been brought to our attention although, if it is, then we would of course look into it.'

But Ian McDonald — spokesman for the Independent Everton fans group — reckons the Old Trafford players wrecked good relations between the two sets of supporters.

McDonald said:

“Last year, when United won the title at Goodison, half the Everton fans stayed behind to applaud them. If they win it this time those fans won’t see them as worthy champions. Their actions tainted the reputation of United. I think all of Merseyside will hope Arsenal win the league. You can’t go shouting and making gestures like that at opposing supporters. We should be talking of a great game.”
“Instead, we’re talking of an ugly incident — which is very sad.”
