THE BRIGHT SIDE

Despite a far from average second half to the season Ryan Giggs can't see the manager splashing the cash around to bring in a lot of new faces this summer.

"I think the manager will try and strengthen the team where he feels it needs it," he said.

"He has gone down on record as saying it isn't panic time just because we haven't won the league.

"He has always had the outlook that when we are winning, that is when we need strengthening.

"When we don't do too well that is the time to give the players a chance to come back stronger and be hungry for success and that could be the way he will go this year."

Giggs doesn't think it's all doom and gloom at OT. (He's obviously not seen some of his performances.)

"There are so many plusses to come out of this season," he added. "We have got to an FA Cup final and that is a massive plus. For this club not to be involved in a final for five years it is great to be back."

And on the end of season slump

He said: "When we are on a roll it's very hard for us to stop winning but a lot of the players found it hard to come to terms with the fact that we were out of contention for the championship by the middle of March.

"We want challenges at the club and towards the end of the season maybe we didn't challenge ourselves enough because we weren't going for the title."
