The Manchester United Lineup That Should Start Against Southampton

Manchester United welcome Southampton to Old Trafford on Monday night aiming to extend their impressive 17 unbeaten run in all competitions.

The top four has eluded the Red Devils for most of the season, but a win over the Saints could see them move into the Champions League spots for the first time since matchday four.

With Leicester struggling recently, and Chelsea's defensive woes continue, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have picked up some serious momentum, stringing together four Premier League wins.

Here's how the Red Devils should lineup on Monday.

Goalkeepers & Defenders

De Gea in action for Manchester United

David de Gea (GK) - Recently coming under scrutiny for a a couple of dodgy displays since the restart, De Gea responded well with a clean sheet in United's last outing against Aston Villa.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB) - Since joining from Crystal Palace, Wan-Bissaka has become United's first choice right back. The former Eagle has settled in at Old Trafford well and is on track for an England call-up should he continue his fine run of form.

Victor Lindelof (CB) - Signed by Mourinho back in 2017, Lindelof struggled to get going in Manchester. Under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the former Benfica man has enjoyed a steady improvement in form this season, showing United fans that he may very well make the grade after all.

Harry Maguire (CB) - The new club captain, Maguire has had a massive part to play in United's impressive defensive displays this campaign. Only two sides have conceded less Premier League goals than the Red Devils, thanks in large part to the stellar efforts of the 27-year-old.

Luke Shaw (LB) - After a few difficult seasons, Shaw is finally stating his claim as United's first choice left back. A big part of United's efforts down the left hand side, expect him to feature on Monday night.

Midfielders

Pogba celebrating his goal against Aston Villa on Thursday

Nemanja Matic (CM) - The big Serbian has been surprisingly brilliant in recent weeks. His performances often go under the radar, though his work in the middle of the park has been crucial to United's recent successes.

Paul Pogba (CM) - United's main man is back in the fray. Since the restart, he looks to have fallen in love with football again. The chemistry with newcomer Bruno Fernandes is an exciting prospect for the United faithful.

Bruno Fernandes (CAM) - Since his arrival in January, Fernandes has breathed new life into this United side. The Portugal international has netted an impressive seven goals in 10 Premier League appearances as the Red Devils hunt down the Champions League places.

Forwards

Mason Greenwood is in fine form for United

Mason Greenwood (RW) - With four goals in his last three appearances, Greenwood is fast becoming a superstar in Manchester. The 18-year-old academy graduate is growing in confidence under Solskjaer and is expected to feature in Monday night's clash.

Anthony Martial (ST) - Enjoying his best campaign with the club, Martial has netted 15 goals in 28 Premier League appearances so far, an impressive return from the former Monaco man.

Marcus Rashford (LW) - Like Martial, Rashford is enjoying his most productive season to date with the Red Devils. The 22-year-old has netted 15 goals in 27 Premier League appearances this term.
