THE M.E.N. SHOOTS FROM THE HIP AGAIN

Cristiano Ronaldo smacks of an ungrateful young man looking for excuses to wheedle his way out of Old Trafford - United must cash in on him now.

Sir Alex Ferguson will be understandably livid and feeling desperately let down by the 21-year-old's comments following Portugal's third and fourth place World Cup defeat to Germany.

The winger claims that neither United's president (owner Malcolm Glazer) nor Reds' boss Fergie have defended him over the Wayne Rooney red card incident.

"I don't want to be rude to anyone but they should have defended me.

"I feel fragile at this time. I didn't do anything wrong to anybody. It was not my fault for what happened."

If Ronaldo really knew the workings of Old Trafford then he'd know that the Glazers don't involve themselves in dressing room politics. Never have and never will.

And he'll also know that Fergie famously protects and looks after his players, particularly the young ones, better than anyone else.

If Ronaldo had come back to Carrington after his post-World Cup holiday the United manager would have taken him under his wing straight away.
