"We hope it is not serious because Ruud did really well tonight," said Ferguson. "After his goals last season there has been a great expectation on him. He has had a slow start but he has got two tonight in one of the hardest places to score. The first one in particular was something we were looking to exploit and the second was a really good piece of football by us."
"We defended quite well at times but it is difficult to play against them because you are afraid to make tackles round the box," Ferguson added. "You have to surrender possession but I didn't think they threatened us greatly and we got a bit of luck when they hit the post. I was disappointed in the second half in terms of possession, but there were fantastic counter-attack opportunities. If you look at the other results it has been quite a good night for Manchester United."
Ferguson said: "We had some defending to do in the second half and we did that well. When Brdaric dribbled through, Ferdinand got back and blocked. I thought he and Laurent were magnificent."
