Inter Milan have released a statement after new reports linking them with a move for Ryan Giggs:

"With regards to supposed declarations which Massimo Moratti gave in relation to Ryan Giggs, FC Internazionale state that the president has not made these declarations and has not even thought about the issue."

Moratti was said to be finalising a lucrative package for 29-year-old Giggs as Inter look to land their first title since 1989.

The report to which it refers was as follows:
Inter Milan could step up their interest in Ryan Giggs, with the Italian club's president Massimo Moratti reportedly making the flying Welshman his top transfer target.

Moratti revealed that his club could make a firm offer of up to £25 million in the summer as they look to establish themselves as the dominant force in Italian football.

And they could even allow striker Alvaro Recoba to go to Old Trafford as part of the deal. However, Moratti admitted that it would be hard to persuade United to part with one of their prize assets.

"It's very difficult to see how United would be prepared to come to the negotiating table to discuss the sale of one of their stars," Moratti told the Daily Star newspaper.

"But Giggs is one of those players for whom it is worth trying. He's a fantastic footballer who everyone wants to sign."
