Title Talk

Fergie, "It would have made the title race wide open if we had lost (against Spurs). We would have been level with Liverpool with a game in hand and these games in hand don't matter to me. The best indication is the points you have at this moment.

"We have five games left, our opponents Liverpool and Chelsea have four, and we are whittling them down one by one. We are in a better position today than we were on Wednesday and we are one goal better off than we were on Wednesday.

"But I don't even think about Liverpool. What we have to remember is how slow we played in the first half and make sure we play at our pace. We will be much better."

Rooney, "We know we're in a great position. We have to take advantage of that game in hand. We've got five games left and it's ours to throw away. It was very important to win today and stay top of the league by a margin. It gives us belief and confidence ahead of the midweek game."

Roanldo, "We have five games left and we know that if we win the next four we will win the league. We have five cup finals left and we have to believe. I'm looking forward to every game and I'm very confident we'll win the title again."

Giggs, "It's been an exciting season. It looks like it is going to go down to the wire. It's big game after big game now, but that's what you want and that's what you need at a big club like United."

Benitez, "We have to keep on winning. This football is always difficult and United are a good team, but if we keep winning I think maybe they will feel the pressure. You never know in football. We have done our job here."

Dirk Kuyt, "I believe in miracles in football. I have certainly seen stranger things happen in football. We'll just keep fighting for it - all we can do is keep winning our games."
