TORRES DEAL MAY BE TOO EXPENSIVE

Yesterday's Daily Mail believes that United have been priced out of a deal for Fernando Torres. Something that was reported on RI's Sanctuary earlier on in the week. The report reads United's pursuit of Spanish international striker Torres depends largely on United's ability to match the 22-year-old's financial demands.

****The striker's club Atletico Madrid have financial commitments of their own and are unlikely to budge from a valuation of £23m - meaning that the total package is currently beyond United.****

One option would be to call time on the protracted pursuit of Tottenham midfielder Michael Carrick, particularly given that the £14m price tag would appear somewhat greater than the player's genuine worth.

But that appears unlikely to happen, meaning that Ferguson' s hope of progress regarding Torres would appear to rely on the sale of Van Nistelrooy.

The Sun reports that Inter have tabled a £25 million bid for the striker.
