SENT TO COVENTRY

Young goalie, Ben Williams is sent on work experience

Ben Williams has joined Coventry City on a month's loan.

Despite what you might think, Coventry manager Gary McAllister has close links with United, being a family friend of the Busby’s (both from Belshill, he says he, like many others from that area, was a United fan as a kid) and a former trainee who we sent packing and it is certain that Fergie will try to help him out.

SWAP VERON??

The Screws reckon that United have tried to swap JSV for Real‘s Claude Makalele but they were not keen.

AND FROM OUR FRENCH SPY....

This from Fuz off the forum...

On French radio last night, Guy Roux confirmed that Fergie has stepped up his attempts to transfer raid Auxerre. With the French club likely to go out of the UEFA cup b4 Xmas, Fergie has inquired as to a January raid as opposed to th anticipated summer move.

He wants Mexes, Cisse and.... Kapo. The latter has just broken into the full french squad. Like the others he's six foot plus (tying in with Fergie's recent comments about the importance of speed and physique,) left footed, fairly pacy and plays just behind the main striker. Auxerre are sweating on his contract renewal (think it's up in 2004) so a cheap price might be possible, especially as Roux indicated that Fergie would finance any move(s) with a big money transfer. At the end of the interview Roux joked that, as so many of his players are in demand by Fergie, he may as well move to OT himself as assistant manager when he quits at the season's end.

Either way, though a raid in January looks unlikely, definately expect more on Cisse and Mexes, and maybe Kapo too, come summer. Will post anything new when I hear it.

NEW FIGO

From The Times:

Manchester United are close to signing Sporting Lisbon’s £10m-rated winger Ricardo Quaresma, 19, who has been called the new Luis Figo.

SENDEROS

Speculation persists that SAF is trying to sign Swiss teenager, Philippe Senderos. The NOTW are latest to mention this.

FORGIVE HIM, FOR HE KNOW NOT WHAT HE DOTH

Argentinian international goalie Gustavo Campagnuolo says he admires both United and The Dippers

"For me I have always admired teams in Europe, teams like Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle.

"I have seen them on Argentine television, but I also like Spanish and Italian teams.

"I would very much like to play in England, though, because it is a spectacular high scoring league where goalies get to work a lot.

"My ambition would be to play in Europe and for the national team. This would make my family happy as well.

"I think a move to Europe would be a great thing for me to accomplish at this time.

Manchester United were known to have watched Campagnuolo in action earlier this year and he has confirmed that there was contact.

"There was some contact between Manchester United and Racing.

"My president told me about this but nothing ended up happening which was a shame.

"I enjoy watching Barthez play for Manchester and I would have enjoyed working with him or behind him.

"I am flattered by any attention paid to me. I am a modest guy who loves to play soccer, and everyday I am grateful that I can make my living in this great game.

"For that reason teams when European clubs look at me, it just makes me play better.

"I would consider any club that is open to foreigners and needs a good goalie. I care about my career, my fans, and the teams I play for.

"I 'm a very loyal guy so I would really like to know that my work is appreciated by the team I play for and I give 100 percent and hope to do so for an English team someday."

I USED TO PLAY FOR UNITED Y’KNOW

It’s widely reported that Nazio are keen to sell Stam to Newcastle. Poor man, he must wonder when his punishment is ever going to end. Perhaps we may then get some money?
