TRANSFER SPECULATION

United have again been linked with Thomas Gravesen after he was quoted in the Daily Mail thus:

"My clear ambition is to play every game so naturally I am not satisfied. For me this can't go on, so my agent and I will have to take a look at the situation while the transfer window is still open."

Meanwhile Sky report:

Thomas Gravesen's agent is mystified as to why Real Madrid would reject an offer from Manchester United for the midfielder.

Reports claim that The Red Devils are looking to bring the Denmark international back to The Premiership.

He has expressed his frustration at failing to establish himself as a regular in the Real side and is keen for a return to England.

Old Trafford is rumoured to be his preferred destination, although there has been no official confirmation of any bid.

The 29-year-old's representative John Sivebaek is also unaware of whether Real have fielded any enquiries for the midfield hard man.

But the former United full back concedes that, if Real had received an offer, he would not understand why it would be rejected.

"We have still not heard anything official from Real Madrid regarding United's interest. If the club did reject the offer, there should be a point to it, but it seems strange that he didn't play against Villarreal.

"I believe we will know in the coming weeks."

Elsewhere Eurosport link us with former Leeds man Dacourt:

Manchester United are targeting Roma's former Leeds enforcer Olivier Dacourt to take on Roy Keane's midfield mantle. United, who completed the signing of Patrice Evra on Tuesday, have reportedly picked out Dacourt as the man to fill Keane's boots as Sir Alex Ferguson continues to rebuild his side.
Dacourt - who has also played for Everton - is out of contract at the Olimpico in the summer and the 31-year-old has played only five games for Roma this season as the Italian club turn to more youthful options.

The France international would be available at a nominal fee and would provided the United midfield with bite and experience.
