TRANSFER TALK

The Sunday Mirror claims we are lining up a £12m summer move for Southampton forward James Beattie.

Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) say they've opened talks with Man United to sell them 21-year-old defender Nemanja Vidic: 'He's pure gold,' says a spokesman. 'I love English football,' says Zvezda, 'and my dream is Manchester'.

Real Madrid’s manager Vicente del Bosque says that Figo will not be coming to O.T.

"I do not know if he will want to leave because he is very well with Real Madrid.

"As he is 30 years old, a very important age in the career of a footballer, I believe that he is going to want to continue enjoying these moments.

"As for the rumours that say he'll finish his career with Manchester United, those decisions are only with him with respect, but what I am able to say is that I see he is very enthusiastic in Real Madrid.

"He is a very competitive footballer with huge technical qualities."

This from the Mirror:

Manchester United target Daniel van Buyten has been told he will not be allowed to leave Marseille at any price until the end of the season.

Van Buyten's agent, Christophe Henrotay, said: "We have met with Marseille and they were determined that Daniel would stay.

"Perrin does not want to upset the equilibrium of his team while they are challenging for a Champions League place.

"Every player has his price, but Marseille have said they will not sell.

"Daniel is disappointed because a move to Manchester United would be a dream. He feels they are the biggest club in the world.”
