TRANSFER TITTLE TATTLE

Jordi Cruyff and Emerson could be heading for the Bolton exit door. Both players have been on trial at Bolton but Sam Allardyce's comments to the press have been interpreted as a goodbye for both of them: "I won’t take what I consider a squad player, rather than one who would be a first-team certainty."

Meanwhile The Independent reports that Rivaldo could be heading back to The Land That Time Forgot.

Rivaldo has apparently changed his mind and told Bolton Wanderers he wants to join them.

The former World Footballer of the Year has decided after two months that the idea of playing in the Premiership is enticing. Rivaldo rang the manager, Sam Allardyce, at the weekend to apologise for wasting so much time and ask if Bolton still wanted to take him on.

Allardyce had written off the move despite putting a strong case for Bolton in their talks, but accepted Rivaldo's story and told him he would have to come to pre-season training first.

Now Rivaldo is heading for Bolton's base in Portugal and is due to arrive tomorrow. After so much uncertainty, Bolton will only believe it when they see the Brazilian arriving, but there is now new and unexpected hope.

Allardyce made Rivaldo his first-choice signing for next season and Bolton put a staggering offer on the table for him.

However, Rivaldo then flew off to talk to clubs in Germany, Spain and the Middle East, plus Celtic. But he has taken time out to consider his future and now realises that the Premiership is an ideal stage to recapture his best form.

Rivaldo's terms will have to be discussed and possibly reduced, but the deal looks likely as a source close to him revealed: "The main problem was the fear of letting himself down in the Premiership. He was worried about joining the wrong club and being branded a flop."

WANNABES SPLASH OUT AGAIN

Chelsea hope to complete the transfer of Marseille's Didier Drogba in the next couple of days.

From The Guardian:

'The Ivory Coast international is set to meet Chelsea representatives in London today to discuss a four-year contract.

With Jose Mourinho anxious to finalise his squad before travelling to the United States on Wednesday, and Marseille eager to find a replacement for Drogba - they are chasing the Czech striker Jan Koller - both clubs have been keen to conclude negotiations. Any doubts that the deal might not go through were assuaged when Chelsea increased their initial bid of £19m, rejected last week, to meet the French club's valuation.

"A definite decision will be taken at the start of the week," said the Marseille president, Christophe Bouchet. "It must be done quickly so as not to affect the preparations of Marseille or Chelsea."

Reports elsewhere suggest that Kenyon is going to use Chelsea's trip to the States to 'build the Chelsea brand in America'. What a business genius, wonder where he got that idea from?
