TRANSFER TITTLE TATTLE

Reported Manchester United target Gareth Bale is at the centre on today's tittle tattle; with most of the media concerned with an event of which we will not speak, rumour is a little thin on the ground. The Times report that Tottenham are 'confident of completing' a £6m transfer for Bale by the end of the week.

However his boss, George Burley, has reiterated his opinion that Bale should stay with Southampton. "The position has not changed. I want to keep him for at least another season and we will be speaking to him, his family and his agent in the next week or so to see how they feel about it. It would do him good to stay another year and to play regularly, but we need to discuss things with his advisors."

In other news, Samuel Eto'o has seemingly quashed the tittle tattle that linked him with a summer move to the Premiership, claiming his is more than happy to stay at Barcelona. "I am happy here," he said. There is no problem, no crisis. The press can write what they want, but I am staying.

"These kind of things are usually just speculation and don't come through to me. I am happy at Barcelona and will definitely be here next season. I have no idea where I will be in a few years time, but at the moment I have a contract with Barcelona until 2010."

Finally some tittle tattle that a lot of reds will be hoping materialises. With Bryan Robson now confirmed as manager of Sheffield United, it is rumoured today in the Manchester Evening News that he will make a £3m bid for Kieran Richardson.
