Gray needs a pro-license to manage in the Premiership, and
has been given three months to get one by the Premier
League.

A Premier League spokesman said: “There was a problem

special dispensation for a certain period of time.”

League Managers’ Association chief executive John Barnwell
added: “There were new regulations stating that all managers
who did not have a pro license had to gain it in the summer.

“That’s the course Peter Reid and others went on and they
all came through it. Managers with 10 years or more
experience — such as Alex Ferguson — were given a diploma.”
