TWO YEARS AND NO GOAL

Rio Ferdinand thinks that Wayne Rooney is being judged wrongly on his form this season especially as he has played so few games. However with him not scoring in the Champions League since his debut Ferdinand thinks all will be forgotten once he gets back on the scoresheet.

'If Wayne had scored against Reading on Saturday, the questions about him would probably not be being asked,' he said.

'I thought he did well at the weekend and got stronger as the game went on.

'But, as we all know, strikers are judged on goals. Everyone knows what a quality player he is and once he scores, people will soon be singing his praises again.'

Ferguson also believes there is nothing to worry about with regards to Rooney's form.

"Wayne did well at Reading. He did very well.

"How many times do we have to say that six games in six months is not a lot of action? I think it is just a matter of games.

"There was a big improvement on Saturday, far more sharpness and movement from him that will continue. The progress will continue."

"I am not concerned about Wayne's form at all," he said. "All he needs is games. I have made the point a number of times about how little football the lad has played over the past six months.
