UEFA top brass want Sir Alex Ferguson stripped of his knighthood for suggesting the European Cup draw was fixed.

Austrian FA chief Friedrich Stickler, who pulled out Manchester United's name alongside Real Madrid for the quarter-final, is furious at Fergie's allegation.

Stickler raged: "This is absolute nonsense. It is incredible. They should take away his title.

"How can he say such a thing, I'm speechless. This raises doubts about his integrity and sportsmanship.

"If he does not take that back in an official statement immediately, I will consult my lawyers."

A UEFA statement said: "With his remarks Sir Alex Ferguson casts doubt upon the integrity of the draw for the quarter-finals.

"According to UEFA disciplinary regulations, member associations as well as their players, officials and members, should conduct themselves according to the principal of loyalty, integrity and sportsmanship.

"A breach of these principals is incurred by anyone whose conduct brings the sport of football and UEFA in particular into disrepute.

"The case will be dealt with by UEFA's control and disciplinary body."
