UEFA Chief Executive Gerhard Aigner was speaking before the
draw and said:

“We have seen some negative trends. More incidents of racist
abuse, the fielding of weakened teams and examples on the
field of unsporting conduct. Everyone involved - clubs'
coaches, fans and players - must do everything possible to
minimise these things to create the best example in the best
club competition in the world."

However he also paid tribute to the competition thus far:

"I would like to pay tribute to the 24 clubs who are not
present today and express our thanks to all those who have
made the competition so exciting. We have again seen some
great nights of European football."

He finished off by saying:

"I hope these final rounds will be memorable for all the
right reasons - fantastic football, sporting behaviour both
on and off the field."
