Fresh reports in Spain (translation required) this morning suggest that United have told Madrid they want 27-year-old Benzema this summer

United had named three players they'd be interested in: Raphael Varane, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, but see the latter as the most accessible of the trio mentioned and are pushing to complete a deal to sign the former Lyon star.

Real Madrid have said they will not negotiate with United over the sale of Karim Benzema and this is something that Los Blancos president Florentino Perez has been very clear on.

But United have super agent Jorge Mendes pushing the Real Madrid hierarchy for Benzema on the Red Devils behalf, with Louis van Gaal extremely interested in acquiring the strikers services.

Of course, any deal for Benzema means David de Gea would be leaving Manchester United for Madrid

However, representatives of two-time Player of the Year de Gea have suggested that they are NOT willing force through a move from England to Spain

Despite this, Real Madrid remain confident they will be able to prise the fan favourite from Old Trafford.
