UNITED FANS SET TO SUE GLAZERS

Blame for the League Cup final tickets shambles has largely been attributed to postal strikes in Northern Ireland but many Reds from elsewhere were affected too. Unlike Wigan, United refused to send tickets out by registered/recorded delivery (clearly the extra 3% levy isn't enough to cover this) and many supporters didn’t receive theirs, which created problems given that the Millennium Stadium have stopped issuing duplicates on the day of the game.

United were informed that this was the case weeks and weeks ago but continued to lie to supporters all last week saying that duplicates would be sorted by Friday. With Reds having paid for tickets and travel United then had to admit that no duplicates would be issued, but accepted no responsibility for the tickets not having turned up and refused to issue refunds. This despite the fact that United had no record of ever posting the tickets and therefore the Post Office had no liability for any missing items. Still, good ol’ United could offer supporters who could afford it the chance to purchase another ticket at a mere £72 each.

United maintain that no refunds will be offered to fans who are out of pocket – which is in clear breach of law governing purchase of goods which aren’t supplied, not to mention horrendous customer service. No doubt the £7000 stolen by United from its supporters in this way will be most welcome to the Glazers, but United don’t have a leg to stand on legally and some supporters are set to launch a group action to recoup their losses.

Meanwhile Brian Lashley at the Evening News says if there are any aggrieved fans who wish to report in to him, he will do a story on Friday for Saturday's paper and take the issue to the club and to Cardiff/the League. Contact RI for his phone number.
