Manchester United have been fined 35,000 Swiss francs (£14,526) by Uefa for their part in the crowd trouble that marred the club's Champions League quarter-final against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on April 4.

Uefa's disciplinary committee held a meeting yesterday at which they watched video evidence of fans throwing missiles and lighting flares. Roma were fined 75,000 Swiss francs (£31,125) after the governing body decided that the Italians had been the worse behaved of the two sets of supporters.

Uefa chose not to make any comment about the actions of the Italian police but United are to send the Home Office a dossier in the next couple of days containing 500 complaints from their own supporters. The Home Office intend to take up the matter with the Italian authorities.
