UNITED IN FOR YOUNG KEEPER

Last updated : 09 April 2003 By Editor
United are apparently interested in New York/New Jersey MetroStars' goalkeeper Tim Howard about a move to England.
The US club's general manager Nick Sakiewicz said: 'Manchester United have shown an interest in Timmy and he's quite a goalkeeper.

'They've asked us for some tapes of him in action and for permission to talk with him and get to know him.

'Things are at a preliminary stage and he's just signed a long-term contract with us.'

Timmy is 24 and travelled with the US national team to the World Cup last year.
