Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney have been ruled out of selection for the England squad to face Germany in the forthcoming international friendly fixture.

Both players were forced to sit out United's 5-0 win against Stoke at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Ferdinand has a back injury whilst Rooney is suffering with a chest infection and calf injury.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has declared that both players will not be available for selection for the England game at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin on Wednesday, 19th November.
