United played out a 1-1 draw against Kaiser Chiefs in the first game of the Vodacom Challenge in South Africa.

The Chiefs opened the scoring at Newlands in Cape Town with a 37th minute penalty from Jonathan Quartey after Siphiwe Tshabalala was fouled in the box by United skipper Gary Neville.

Chris Eagles equalised for United on 59 minutes when he headed home a Carlos Tevez cross.

United next match in the three game challenge is against Orlando Pirates in Durban on Tuesday evening.
