UNRECOGNISABLE, LETHARGY, OUR GOALIE WAS MARVELLOUS

Fergie:

"We were unrecognisable really.

"Perhaps the tension and emotion of Wednesday night played a part.

"We made a terrible start, and Fulham fully deserved to win the match. There was just a lethargy about the team, and it could have been six - our goalkeeper was marvellous.

"It was an absolutely fantastic position to be in after the first half, and we should have gone on to win it.

"But when you gamble you leave the gate open. These performances don't happen a lot, and we're very seldom as bad as that.

"A lazy performance. We’ve seldom been as bad as that. They could have scored six."

Coleman:

"Every one of my players was different class today, and I can't pick anyone out - they were all brilliant.

"They must be thinking they can go anywhere after a performance like that, because we deserved the result today.

"You can call me negative if you like - but I'm still thinking about getting the 40 points as soon as possible.

"Let's not forget that people were saying I was a rookie who was going to get the sack after two months and that we were going to finish bottom.

"We will not get carried away - although the way we played today must have instilled the players with confidence to do the same against Liverpool next week.

"The only way to get something was by trying to take the game to United.

"Even after United's goal, the lads were still bubbling at half-time. We said if we go out and do the same again we have a chance - and that's what we did.''
