"It's up to us to produce once we cross that white line and we're not doing that at the moment - not in the bread and butter of the Premiership anyway. We'll be working hard to put that right though.

"I wouldn't be afraid of the manager bringing new players in - that's what playing for Manchester United is all about. But I've seen some great players leave here in the last ten years - Ince, Kanchelskis - because the manager didn't think they were doing the business any more. That's the way it should be.

"We're maybe missing an Eric Cantona-type player who can create that bit of magic in a tight match, and midfielders who push up to support the forwards in the box. Last season we lost six League games at home, and we didn't score in any of those games. That's not good enough."
