VERON SHOWDOWN

Reports in Italy claim that Veron's 'people' will be having a meeting today to try to secure him a move to Internazionale.

"I am flattered that a few teams are looking at me. Big players are good in big teams. I would not have any problems playing for Hector Cuper (at Inter Milan) or Marcello Lippi (at Juventus). I will be the right man."

It's also reported that Inter could be willing to let their highest earner Recoba move to Old Trafford as a way of funding the deal while reducing their wage bill.
Yet Planetfootball reports Veron's agent claiming the midfielder was misquoted in the British and Italian press.

"Veron never said that he wants to leave Manchester," said Fernendo Hidalgo.

"He feels very good in England, he's happy and he wants to honour the contract that bounds him to the Red Devils for another three years."

Hidalgo claims that Veron was misquoted in stories linking him with a return to Serie A.

"Everything was born from that phrase, but he wasn't saying he has a will to leave," he continued.

"He's really happy to stay in England and he will participate with Manchester's meeting after his holidays on July 8."
