VIEIRA KEANE TO REPLACE ROY?

Pretty meaningless quotes from the Mirror, though as reported in the last RI, word is that Vieira does want to leave Juve:

Patrick Vieira has told Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson that he would be the ideal choice to replace midfield veteran Roy Keane.

Vieira, 29, who left Arsenal for Juventus in a £13million summer move, hinted that he would be interested in joining United as Roy Keane's long-term successor.

Ferguson revealed he did not pursue Vieira last summer because he had been led on too many times in the past by the former Gunners skipper when he had tried to sign him.

“You never know what's going to happen in the next few years. I have signed a contract with Juventus but anything can happen and then the door will be open to anybody.

“When you are a player you always look at the best and that Manchester United team was the best in the country. United are interested in all the big players Was I tempted? No, you can't say that because when I was at Arsenal it was very difficult to go to United.

“Even if United are not doing well now they are always going to bounce back.”
