"It's going to take us winning a trophy to prove we are a big club again. It's going to be difficult to overtake United with their wealth and their attendances and worldwide fan base.
"But on the pitch, for the last three or four seasons, I think our results have been better when we have played them.
"Eventually our aim has to be to try and overtake United."
