Months of speculation finally came to an end last Friday, with the former Chelsea boss signing a three-year deal at Old Trafford following Louis van Gaal's wholly-expected sacking.
Mourinho's arrival has been welcomed by many connected to the club and captain Rooney has joined the chorus of those backing the appointment.
"It's exciting - one of the best managers in the world," the 30-year-old said.
"Obviously he knows the Premier League really well and for myself, and I am sure for the other Manchester United players, it's exciting times
