WEEKEND PREVIEW

From the Sun:

Daniel Agger has asked Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez: Let me make my debut against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Danish centre-back arrived at Anfield only last week after his £5.5million transfer from Brondby.

“All the players had an intensive physical test on Tuesday and the positive thing for me is I didn’t feel any of the effects of my injury.

“I’m ready to play whenever the manager decides the time is right, although he has not talked to me about when I will play my first match yet.

“At the moment I’m just trying to digest everything since I arrived, but you don’t move to a club like Liverpool unless you have the right head for it.

“The training is not too much different to Brondby. There are set patterns and then we spend a lot of time on tactical work.”

From the Independent:

The Liverpool midfielder Luis Garcia may return to action in time for the FA Cup fourth-round tie at Portsmouth but it has been confirmed he will miss Sunday's Premiership match with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

A club spokesman said: "Luis travelled to Spain to see a knee specialist, who advised him to continue his rehabilitation at Melwood. It is expected he will be out for a further 10 days."

John Arne Riise:

"We're looking good at the moment. We've got points on the board and two games in hand. But you always prefer to have the points than games to play, so we can't take anything for granted. The most important thing for us is to keep winning. If we do that then we can start hoping somewhere along the line Chelsea slip up.

"But there's no way Sunday is a game for second [place]. We're still aiming to win every game we play. If we can, then we'll see if we can catch up."
