Arsène Wenger has hinted that he may leave Highbury when his contract expires at the end of next season.

Arsenal are keen to keep him for life and have mentioned a job as technical director or a place on the board when he chooses to step down. But he told the German website Sport1.de:

"I have a contract with Arsenal until 2004 which I will definitely fulfil. But what happens after that I don't know. I would like to become a national coach one day.

"The Bayern job would hinge on whether I would be given sufficient freedom to work and enough power. Working for Franz Beckenbauer would present no problems as I know him well. I would also like to manage a national team some day."

Elsewhere Mark Bosnich was in a clinic last night after being diagnosed with "severe clinical depression".

"Mark Bosnich has been diagnosed as suffering from severe clinical depression," said his management company, SEM. "On medical advice he was today admitted to a depression unit of a medical facility to obtain treatment for that depression.

"It would not usually be appropriate to release this type of information, which is private in nature, but it has been decided to do so on this occasion to prevent speculation."
