Wenger admitted yesterday that he’d had talks with Franz Beckenbauer regarding the vacant German manager’s post. His subsequent comments on his future will do little to reassure any worried Gooners, as they can be sure that if he goes, then their superstars will be sure to follow:
"I have a contract with Arsenal until 2005. I will honour it," said Wenger. "Our season starts in four weeks and the club wouldn't let me go anyway.
"In October, I'll decide what to do after that. At the moment, I am not free and not available."
