'If I got picked, it would be great but after missing most of the season, then not doing too well when I came back and taking my time to get back to form, it doesn't look like it will happen. The way I have to look at it, there is a bonus either way. If I went to Euro 2004, it would be fantastic to be involved - if I don't it means I will get a complete rest this summer and be fully ready for the start of next season. That doesn't mean I won't wish I was involved when I'm watching the matches on TV. Anyone who says that is lying.'
