West Ham have renewed their interest in Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard with a deadline day loan enquiry, 90min can confirm.
Lingard enjoyed a terrific loan spell at the London Stadium in the second half of last season, scoring nine goals in 16 Premier League appearances to help fire the club into the Europa League.
Many predicted Lingard to make the move permanent, owing to a lack of opportunities at boyhood club United, but the 29-year-old opted to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place.
That decision has ultimately backfired on Lingard and he's been a peripheral figure under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and interim manager Ralf Rangnick, starting once for the Red Devils all season.
David Moyes has always retained an interest in re-signing Lingard, who ironically netted the last ditch winner against West Ham when United visited in September, and 90min understands that the Hammers have made a late move to bring him back to the capital.
Lingard is also the subject of strong interest from relegation strugglers Newcastle, who are willing to go above and beyond to take him to St James' Park either on loan or on a permanent deal. The Magpies hope he will be one of five new faces to arrive, following the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood through the arrivals door.
There have also been enquires about Lingard from elsewhere.
Ideally, Lingard wants to wait until the summer to decide his long-term future, but he is frustrated by broken promises made to him at Manchester United and is open to moving on deadline day in order to regain match sharpness - potentially good news for West Ham given his affinity with the club.
Lingard also has hopes of breaking into Gareth Southgate's England squad for the World Cup in Qatar this winter, having narrowly missed out on a place at the delayed Euro 2020.
Elsewhere, sources have told 90min that West Ham are still working on deals to sign Benfica's striker Darwin Nunez and Marseille's Duje Caleta-Car, but those moves are looking increasingly difficult to do as the 11pm deadline approaches.
