When Marcus Rashford could return from shoulder injury

Marcus Rashford is making good progress in his recovery from shoulder surgery, and could even be back in Manchester United training by the end of August.

Despite hitting more than 20 goals in all competitions last season, the 23-year-old was unable to perform at 100% due to an ongoing shoulder issue which plagued him throughout the year.

Rashford delayed surgery until the summer knowing that an operation would rule him out of England's Euro 2020 campaign, so he finally went under the knife at the beginning of August.

Initially, Rashford was tipped to miss around three months of action, but an update from The Sun notes that he could return to training by the end of the August - far sooner than was anticipated.

He will then work towards building up his fitness for a Premier League return and may even be able to target a September return to action.

Rashdord is undergoing twice-weekly rehabilitation sessions with United's medical team and is already back in the gym. It's said that he's been using the water treadmill, focusing on resistance training and is building up his strength through squat exercises.

A brace is still being worn to support his shoulder, and that's all part of the rehabiliation programme that was outlined for Rashford post-surgery. Should his recovery continue to go well, the winger may be able to pencil in a return against Everton at Old Trafford on 2 October, should September come a little too soon.

When Rashford returns, he'll join an exciting United forward line that flourished on the opening day of the season against Leeds. Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes stole the show, while Jadon Sancho made his competitive debut in a 5-1 thrashing at Old Trafford.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also has Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani at his disposal, offering an insight into the increased strength in depth United have to call upon this season.
